Wednesday 7th – walk **** Alresford Circuit – sunny and warm.
After a mega 5 Star session yesterday at Point Clear where I didn’t get
off the water until 7.30, we drove just down the road and stayed the night
at one of our favourite spots, Alresford Church. Nice quiet night and woke
to a sunny warm day with a bit of a breeze so I was not sure if I wanted to
go windsurfing again today? Relaxing start, Mag even managed to do her
exercises and not too many dog walkers either:) Then we have a lovely walk
as if I do go windsurfing, I am in no hurry as it is not high water until
late afternoon. We do the 2.25 Alresford circuit starting with the ruined
church which burnt down in the 70’s. Then down the wheat field recently
cut, through the wood to the quarry pits turning right the path leads down
to the River Colne. The last time we did this route in the spring it was
full of wild flowers but the summer is parched time with everything looking
dead we much prefer the spring and summer! It looks like it might be good
for blackberries in a few weeks:) We join the Wivenhoe trail by the Colne
where the tide is out turning left, we walk to Alresford creek with loads
of fast flying swifts! We sit on the seat at the creek before the slog up
the lane back to the van where we decide to drop my damaged 7m to a sail
repair loft in Brantham and with mates planning to windsurf at Bradfield
and Wrabness I decide to head to Bradfield as it was closer and you get a
better view for lunch which we enjoyed while watching a couple of families
with the kids playing in the mud!
